ChatGPT Goes Down Globally, Users Report Access Issues
In one of its most significant service disruptions in recent months, OpenAI’s ChatGPT faced a major global outage on Tuesday, leaving users unable to access its core functionalities across web, mobile, and API services.
The disruption began around 2:45 PM IST and quickly peaked, with outage detection platform Downdetector logging over 800 reports in India and 1,900 in the U.S.

The company also confirmed that not just ChatGPT, but APIs and its video-generation tool, Sora, were also affected. While some recovery is underway, OpenAI has not yet provided a timeline for full restoration or the root cause of the outage.
User Frustration Mounts on Social Media
As ChatGPT remained down for several hours, users took to X (formerly Twitter) and other platforms to express their frustration. One satirical post by user @pathray_ri77258 read:
